CHARACTER CREATION CHALLENGE 2023

Welcome to 2023!

Here at Retro Arcana we love the RPG hobby as a whole, an experience, perhaps even a lifestyle. Roleplaying allows us to engage in all sorts of experiences we would not otherwise be able to explore- the past, the future, alternate worlds where superpowers are real, or where an orc might deliver your pizza, or a star-spanning empire might clash over spare parts. An important part of all these adventures are the characters that will undertake them. To this end, folks in the RPG community have created the #charactercreationchallenge - wherein contributors create one character for each day of January 2023. Last year, I participated on my own blog. This year, I’ll be participating here and cross-posting to my personal blog. Previously, I had done a different game system for each character, but this year I believe we’ll create five adventuring parties that our readers can use as pregens for a whole group in 2023. Sometimes it’s easier to introduce new players to a game with ready-made characters, so that’s what we’ll do- hand folks a set of characters for each game ready to rock and roll.

  • Classic Traveller: 13-18 January

  • TBD: 19-24 January

  • Star Trek Adventures (6 PCs plus a Ship): 25-31 January
